But increasingly we find that those businesses which are less than 'corporate' in size think that this kind of joined up approach just isn't within their reach.
As such, they do one of three things.
Number one. They do nothing - and stick with their out-of-date spreadsheets, their tick-box approach to just getting appraisal reviews or engagement surveys 'done' and avoid the tough but important, business risk-type questions about succession planning.
Or, number two, they (falsely) think that buying into online performance review - or 360 - means that they're embracing 'Talent Management'. Of course, they're are to some extent but in reality they are simply using an online, standalone tool that doesn't give the full picture.
Or, number three, they set out to find a way to introduce an effective talent management approach that's right for their business, that fits with their 'culture' and can be managed within their budget with no hidden costs.
And we work with businesses that are in the third action category: those which are committed to understanding and getting the very best from their people; which understand the value that a joined up approach gives but perhaps just don't have the time, resource or knowledge, to manage this in-house.
Typically, they want Talent Management - and want to use great systems that look good to employees and the leadership team.
